| Natural Disaster Management Cell | Natural Disaster Management cell at Sardar Patel institute of Public Administration was created to act as a focal point at the state level for Natural Disaster reduction related research and training and nucleus of a Nature Disaster Management department of the state level training institution. | We are inviting officers from various department like Revenue, Panchayat, Agriculture, Health, Irrigation, Animal Husbandry, Home, R & B, Industries, Information and Municipal Corporations. which are directly or indirectly involved in the management of disasters.
Natural Disaster Management Cell is taking the services of executives and administrators in the field and academics from various institutes / Organisations as resources persons | Unique features of our programmes are: |  | Visit to Remote sensing and Communication Centre ( RESECO) , Gandhinagar to make them understand the use of technology as Application of Remote Sensing Technology and Geographical Information System in Disaster Management |  | Planning exercise and group presentation by which we are developing their capability to plan for any kind of disaster and present it. |  | We are giving one model district disaster Management plan as study material in the course in electronic form. |
| Natural Disaster Management Cell is observing Disaster Reduction day every year. Since 1996 we had observed world disaster reduction day as per theme announced by UN under the scheme of International Decade for Nature Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) up to the year 1999, by organizing one day programmes for officer of the state. In the year 2000 Government of India started observation of National day for Disaster Reduction (NDDR). | Proposed Activities for Future |  | Special efforts will be made for designing training modules in the distance and non-distance-learning mode for specific categories of training clientele such as policy makers, administrators, elected representatives, Practitioners, Voluntary organizations and the media. |  | NDM Cell will work with vulnerable groups such as disaster prone communities, disaster prone areas, Schools, Panchayats and NGOs to ensure the internalization of social sensitivity |  | Documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt form past disasters, best practices, good practices and failures will be undertaken. |  | Training in Disaster Management will also address specific needs of special needs groups like elderly, disabled, children and other vulnerable groups as well as facilitate the process of their rehabilitation and addressing livelihood issues. |  | We will cover field oriented, practice based and operational inputs in training programmes by taking up relevant research studies in the field. |  | This institute could be called upon to play the role of think rank for the state government for preparing district level and state level and state level multi hazard response plans and mitigation strategies. |  | In addition to on campus we will start off campus training programmes at various levels for higher coverage. |

|  | SPIPA will take up disaster wise courses like Drought Management, Flood Management, Earthquake Management, Industrial & chemical Disaster Management and other manmade Disaster Management. More over the courses of prime importance like community based Disaster Management approach, Risk Management etc.are also being taken up. |
