Originally Started in 1962 as Administrative Training Center (ATS).

Reorganized and started as Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (S.P.I.P.A.) in 1974.

Started at Present Premise on 13-12-1985.

*1. Commissioner of Training & Director General SPIPA is a Principal Chief Secretory to the Chief Minister Gujarat State.

*Deputy Director General in the rank of senior IAS officer, Government of Gujarat.

*Joint Director (Study) in the rank of Joint Additional Collector of GAS.

*8-Course Director from Different Govt. Offices.

*1 Librarian.

* Administrative Supporting Wing of Class-II Officers & Class-III Employees.

* 6 (Six) Regional Centers, imparting training to Non-Gazetted Employees of State Government.

Library Facility

The library of the SPIPA consist of books on various subjects like Management,Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Humanities etc. and Government Publications for departmental use are also purchased and subscription of important magazines, News Papers, Periodicals are also paid every year. The institute has 32930 books, 400 reports of various department, institutions and Universities. Moreover library has a special section for civil service exam, study center. About 4000 selective books on various subjects are available in this section. Library also has a collection of 740 videocassettes and 54 C.D.s on various training programmes. During Ninth Five Year Plan library was strengthened with computer LAN system.
