Introduction

Gujarat Center for Good Governance (GCGG) has been principally set-up vide GAD GR.No. TLM-102005-1247-ARTD-3 dated 4th March, 2006 initially as an autonomous unit of Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) by Government of Gujarat. The Center is engaged in research, evaluation, documentation and specialised training.

Functions of Gujarat Center for Good Governance

• To study Good Governance practices and projects of different states and carry out its documentation.
• To develop a network of different organizations and people working in the field of Good Governance in such a way that they are mutually benefited.
• To organize Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and Trainings on Good Governance.
• To study different best practices in Good Governance and then prepare and implement an award scheme for those working towards the actualization of Good Governance.
• To carry out wide publicity and broadcasting of Good Governance throughout the state.

• Documentation of "Annual Chintan Shibir – 2006" of Govt. of Gujarat held at Bharuch.
• Documentation of "Annual Chintan Shibir – 2011" of Govt. of Gujarat held at Mehsana.
• Documentation of Budget Workshop-2007/08 of Government of Gujarat.
• Documentation of High Level Meeting on Budget Implementation 2008-09, Government of Gujarat.
• Dissemination of Best Practices through "Learn By Them" (DoPT Publication).
• Implementation & Documentation of the project "Training for all" of Government of India.
• Implementation of "Induction Training for DIET Faculties" in association with GCERT, Gandhinagar.
• Implementation of "Training for Educational Administrators" in association with GCERT, Gandhinagar.
• Implementation of "Capacity Building Program on Sustainable Urban Transport".
• Implementation of "Training & Capacity Building Programme under NULM".
• Implementation of training programmes in various modules pertaining to Public Private Partnership (PPP) under the National Public Private Partnership Capacity Building Programme (NPCBP).
• Implementation of the project "Capacity Building for Poverty Reduction through Training Intervention" sponsored by DfID through DPARG, Government of India.
• Research & Documentation of UNDP Project "Capacity Building for Access to RTI in Gujarat" for RTI Cell, SPIPA.
• Goal setting exercise for the officer and staff of SPIPA.
• Preparation and Presentation of Communication Strategy for RTI at Regional Workshop held at CGG – Hyderabad.
• Review and Recommendation for Documentation on One Day Governance done by NPC.
• Presentation on Best Practices of Gujarat for GAD, GoG for presentation to Administrative Reform Commission, GoI.
• Evaluation and Research study for Revenue Department, GoG.
• Training component of UNDP-Planning Commission of India Project "Capacity Building for Human Development" aimed at training about 2600 Officers at State, District and Taluka level on a 2 day module and more than 18,000 village level officials on a one day satcom training program.
• Monitoring of the project "Capacity Building for Poverty Reduction through Innovations" sponsored by DfID under the General Administrative Department, Government of India :

• Center for Good Governance (CGG) has carried out MoU with Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS) for conducting training programs on innovative practices in various sectors under which SPIPA conducts training programmes for the officers of health, urban governance, e-governance and education.
• The state Government has notified SPIPA as the Nodal Institution in Gujarat to conduct research and impart training on the subjects relevant to the state on International Trade, World Trade Organization (WTO) and Free Trade Agreements (FTA) for which SPIPA conducts seminars on varied subjects for sensitizing the officers in the field of WTO and FTA.
• Published a Coffee Table Book on 'Swarnim Swantah Sukhaya Project' in English as well as Gujarati language that showcases Best Practices implimented in Gujarat so as to allow its replication elsewhere.
